The worship team is looking for a bass and/or acoustic guitar player to serve for occasional fill in up to bi-monthly rotation. If interested, please send relevant experience and demo material to Josh Wheeler at WLLZ@hotmail.com to arrange for a time to audition.
Foyer as a worship area
Many of you may not be aware that our fireplace area is used as a “worship area” during services for parents whose kids got fussy in the service and by a few occasional people who have “panic” issues in the crowded worship center. This is where they watch the service on the TV. So if you aren’t in the worship service please leave that area for this purpose during services and if you are in the café area please keep your conversations low so that these worshippers can hear the service. Thank you.
Preparing For The Holiday
A Seminar For Grieving People
Tuesday, December 6, 7:00-9:00 p.m.
Twin Oaks Church 22333 King Road, Woodhaven, MI 48183 (734) 671-8300
The holidays are the happiest time of year—unless you have recently lost a loved one. On Tuesday, December 6, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m., a special program will be presented at the Twin Oaks Christian Church to help hurting people cope with their loss through the holiday season.
If you have lost a loved one and find yourself dreading the holidays, this seminar can be a part of your healing. If you have a friend who has lost a loved one recently, please invite them and attend the seminar with them so they don’t have to come alone.
The presentations will focus on grief from the biblical perspective of ministers, from diverse personal experiences, and from the viewpoint of a Marriage and Family Therapist. Each presenter will emphasize personal and professional suggestions for coping and ways to involve your family in the healing process.
Refreshments will be served and a table of helpful resource materials will be available. To extend the discussions and to combat the sense of isolation there will be an opportunity to register to participate in a free, 4-session support group that will meet during the months of December and January.

Freedom Stylists
If you are a hair stylist please consider becoming a “Rapha House Freedom Stylist”. This program matches stylists in America with young stylists at the “Freedom Salon” in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. They have a total of nine girls living and training at the salon,
and a handful more are training and living in the community. These are girls who have little hope apart from this program. (See the story below). This program is in danger of closing from lack of funds but through “Freedom Fridays”, salons in America are donating their Friday tips to the Freedom Salon. Also individual “Freedom Stylists” are donating their tips all month. To learn more contact Jen Osgood at josgood@raphahouse.org or “like” them at http://www.facebook.com/pages/Rapha-House-Freedom-Stylists/113256798758968.
If you aren’t a stylist, tell the one who does your hair.
Freedom Salon story- Twelve year old Mei came to our Freedom Salon prevention project in February 2011. Her story is one of many. Her extended family asked us to allow her to come to our program as a last resort. Mei comes from a broken family. Until she was nine years old she lived in a prison with her father, but he is now dead. Her mother is a sex worker in the city. As a young girl, Mei has witnessed the horrors of life on the streets. With her extended family unable to give her the constant supervision she needs, they felt she was destined to follow in the footsteps of her parents. At Rapha House Freedom Salon, Mei now has the supervision and guidance she needs. Because she is young, Mei goes to school during the day and participates in vocational
training in the afternoons. She is safe, feels loved and has hope for a future of freedom. Thank you Freedom Stylists for stepping forward to make a difference! See Freedom Stylists photo at http://www.flickr.com/photos/24147812@N05/6263414772/in/set-72157627808486577.
