God is great!!! And you are pretty special too! I really appreciated Louie Giglio’s reminder last Sunday that “I am not, but I know I AM”. I hope you have carried that truth with you this week and let it remind you that God is in control. That He who holds the universe together will hold you together as well.
As I’ve read so many emails and cards of encouragement this week it has struck me once again what a special place Twin Oaks is. This is such a tough time for so many as the economy has turned lives upside down and the statewide stress becomes personal stress and chips away at our strength. It is a tough time for churches too and ours is no exception. But I see such a resiliency here and such a focus on devoting ourselves to whatever pleases the heart of God. And it makes me confident that we can weather any storm. We have grown so much in our ministries to the forgotten and hurting and hungry in the past couple of years, both locally and in places like Haiti and Cambodia, and I believe it has purified the soul of our church. I thought of you when I came across this passage this week:
Then you will call, and the LORD will answer; you will cry for help, and he will say: Here am I.
“If you do away with the yoke of oppression, with the pointing finger and malicious talk, and if you spend yourselves in behalf of the hungry and satisfy the needs of the oppressed, then your light will rise in the darkness, and your night will become like the noonday.
The LORD will guide you always; he will satisfy your needs in a sun-scorched land and will strengthen your frame. You will be like a well-watered garden, like a spring whose waters never fail.” (Isaiah 58:9-11)
Thank you for being the church that you are. Thank you for seeking the heart of God and devoting yourselves to the things that bring a smile to His face. Thank you for keeping the focus on the great “I AM” and not on all of us “I am nots”. God is great!!! And you are pretty special too.
