Sermon Series: Pure Sex - Twin Oaks Christian Church - Woodhaven, MI

“Pure as the driven snow”. You’ve heard that phrase before right?

“Pure” and “snow” are two words that just seem to go together. As I look out my office window at the gently falling snow, just above the window hangs a photograph of a winter scene with the words from Psalm 51:7, “Wash me and I shall be whiter than snow.” When King David was weighed down by the stain of his sin and he wanted more than anything to be pure again, his mind immediately went to dazzling white snow to express the condition he desired for his soul. “Pure” and “Snow” – two words that go together like peanut butter and jelly.

But “Pure… Sex”? If I had asked you to complete “Pure ______” and fill in the blank with the first word that came to your mind, can any of you honestly say that you’d have put down “sex”? Only those of you who’ve been eagerly anticipating the new series of messages I’ll be starting this Sunday. For the rest of the month we’ll be looking at what the Bible says about sex and if you are here for all four messages you will realize by the end that sex, done right, is one of the purest (and most fun) things in the world. Since God thought it up, He should know how it works. And He talks a lot about it in the Bible so we’ll open it up and see what He says. As I said last Sunday, this series is only for single, married, divorced, and widowed folks. Everyone else can take the month off Parents: kids under 6th grade should probably be in Kingdom Kids and their Sunday School classes for these messages.
